Reid Architecture Ltd. ensures that projects maintain their overall success by completing takeover procedures, commissioning, and Post Occupancy Evaluations. Construction Administration

RAL completes field and site reviews throughout the construction process to ensure the structure is in accordance with building codes, accessibility standards, energy standards, zoning ordinances, and other regulations that are essential during project planning for compliance and successful project completion. 

Additionally, our team is versatile in developing supplemental instructions, change orders, site review reports, and coordinating an efficient construction schedule. We take pride in developing structures that minimize risks and promote overall public safety.

Intern Architect – Requirements

  • Bachelor (4 year) or Master’s degree in architecture
  • Two years minimum intern experience with strong design abilities and knowledge of construction and detailing
  • Advanced ability to develop design drawings into working drawings
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Knowledge of the Alberta and British Columbia building code
  • Detailed and organized with excellent time management
  • Strong communication proficiency in English and highly developed interpersonal skills

Intern Architect – Responsibilities

  • Develop design documents under the direction of the Project Architect
  • Preparation of construction documents
  • Coordination of internal and sub-consultants’ construction document working drawings
  • Preparation of addenda, approvals of alternate materials and review of tenders
  • Shop drawings reviews
  • Conduct site review visits
  • Construction administration of multiple projects

Senior Architectural Technologist – Requirements

  • Recognized Degree in Architecture or Architectural Science or an Architectural Technology Diploma
  • Minimum of ten years architectural technology experience in all phases of design, contract documents and construction administration
  • Excellent understanding of construction materials and technical assemblies
  • Must have excellent skills in: REVIT 2023, AutoCAD 2023, Microsoft Office, and Adobe REVU
  • Preparation responses to requests for proposals
  • Excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Lead the development of project technical requirements and standards
  • Coordinate consultant documentation during design and contract document phases
  • Attend/chair project meetings with clients and consultant teams
  • Perform Contract Administration duties including site reviews, document processing, and construction meetings
  • Perform quality control reviews during all design and document phases
  • Complete building code review and analysis for Alberta / British Columbia Building Code / National Building Code

Barbara Reid – Architect

With over 32 years of experience registered in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, Barb is committed to making her projects a success and is known to go above and beyond the call of duty. She has extensive experience across all market sectors bringing with her the knowledge to get things done – the right way. Due to her diverse training as both a technologist and an architect, she is well versed in the technical and design elements of architecture providing both build-able and beautiful solutions for her clients.

She has been fortunate to have completed various roles on her projects as a senior principal and Discipline Lead for the practice. Her duties have ranged from project manager, project architect, senior technologist, interior designer, and contract administrator, all of which have contributed to the success of her projects and career thus far. She is a firm believer in a ‘hands-on’ approach helping her develop long-standing relationships with her clients and demonstrating a strong commitment and dedication to her clients and team.
